Saturday morning saw over 60 excited, cheering, hopeful Hautians come out to show their support and willingness to help Barack Obama become the next president of the United States.
Regional Director, Jesse Moore spoke to an enthusiastic crowd about the importance of getting as many registered voters on the books by the April 7th deadline, a task that is underway across the state of Indiana.
The goal for Terre Haute is 2,000. A number that can only be reached with the help of volunteers. Many of whom were ready and able to go out immediately after the grand opening of the headquarters.
If you are able to help in anyway please come by 425 Wabash Ave., (Between The Saratoga and The Coffee Grounds). Even if you can’t volunteer we would love to see you come by and ask questions or express your support.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a great day and remember to ask your family, your friends, your neighbors, your employees, strangers, EVERYONE if they are registered to vote.

Let’s set the stage for the excitement and hope leading up to the May Indiana 6th Primary.
Today, Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey is endorsing Senator Barack Obama. Working families in Pennsylvania have few stronger advocates than Senator Casey. And that is why they can trust him when he says that Senator Obama is the one candidate who can take on the special interests, and bring Democrats and Republicans […]
News reporting over the last week has begun to focus on a bedrock fact of the race for the nomination: Senator Clinton will not be able to win the nomination by any conventional measure. As the Politico wrote, Clinton has “virtually no chance of winning.”
Their only hope lies in tarring Senator Obama and making him appear to be an unacceptable choice. But Americans are rejecting that kind of negativity, and have consistently shown throughout this primary season that they’re not interested in a politics that tears people down-they’re interested in a politics that lifts the country up.
Barack Obama leads in pledged delegates, states won, and in the popular vote, because he’s built an unprecedented coalition for change, drawing support in every region of the country and from voters of every stripe. Even if Senator Clinton were to win every remaining state, Obama would still lead in all three of those categories. No amount of desperate, baseless attacks is going to change that.
New Polling Shows 10-Point Improvement for Obama
Despite the chatter from the pundits and cable news commentators, Barack Obama has been surging in recent days. A new national poll shows a ten-point turnaround for Barack Obama over the last week. Down as much as seven points only days ago, Obama is now beating Hillary Clinton by three points, 48 to 45, showing a boost following his groundbreaking speech on race in America and his endorsement by Governor Bill Richardson.
Americans are reacting positively to Senator Obama’s speech, because real change means having a leader who will be candid about the challenges we face-including race-and who won’t shy away from taking them on, even when it’s not the politically safe thing to do. Governor Richardson echoed that sentiment in his endorsement of Obama on Friday.
A Grim Milestone: 4,000 Deaths in Iraq
Americans opened their newspapers this morning to another tragic reminder of the consequences of a war that should never have been authorized and never been waged: at least 4,000 of our young men and women in uniform have now been killed in Iraq. Every death is a tragedy, made even more tragic, because the war in Iraq has distracted from the real war against Al Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
It’s time that we push Iraq’s political leaders to reach new milestones-milestones of political reconciliation to end the political differences that fuel this civil war-and the best way to do that is to begin a phased redeployment of our troops from Iraq. That’s what Barack Obama will begin to do on day one as President.
Bill Richardson endorses Barack Obama
Last Friday, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is endorsing Barack Obama. As a former ambassador to the United Nations and senior U.S. diplomat, Richardson has had to deal with some of the world’s toughest characters – from Saddam Hussein to North Korean generals. And he believes that Barack Obama has the judgment we need in a Commander-in-Chief when our nation’s security is on the line. Barack Obama showed this judgment by opposing the Iraq war from the start, and he has shown it during this campaign by standing up for a new era in American leadership around the world.
On Monday night, 35 ready and willing volunteers came to Mogger’s to listen to Nathan Williams Regional Director for Terre Haute and Evansville explain what the gameplan is leading up to May 6th. first and foremost it’s about registering voters prior to the April 7th deadline. Barack Obama took questions from the crowd in Salem, Oregon on Friday, March 21, 2008. A woman asked Senetor Obama to summarize, in a nutshell, what distinguishes him from Hillary Clinton for friends who are on the fence.
One thing I think that is indicative of the integrity and character of Senator Obama is that, before he gave the bullet points as to why one should vote for Barack Obama, he chose to praise Senator Clinton. Calling her “smart, capable and tenacious” going further to state that “she would be a vast improvement over the status quo”.
Show me another politician who is willing to point out the pros of an opponent.
While it may have seemed obvious, it was not truly official that the location of 425 Wabash Ave. was going to be the Barack Obama Terre Haute Headquarters.
An email sent Saturday also named Nathan Williams as Regional Director of the Obama campaign for Terre Haute, Evansville and surrounding counties. Two other members of the Obama campaign, Alyson and Sarah will also be here permanently until the primary.
Tentative plans call for the office to be open 9am-9pm. This will be dependent on the number of volunteers available to staff the office, so if you have any time to volunteer please stop by and sign-up!
Plans are being made now for a grand opening to be held soon.
On Friday, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson endorsed Barack Obama. This is a major endorsement. Both candidates were vying for the Governors endorsement. We need to keep the momentum going in this campaign. Every state, every delegate, every vote counts. If you want to help just stop by 425 Wabash Ave. and sign up!
